My father, James Ronald Giggey, was born in St John NB in 1915?16?.His father was Milledge Walker Giggey and his mother's maiden name was Jessie O'Dell or Odell.
They had 3 sons, Willard, Albert, and James Ronald and 2 daughters, Beatrice and Mary.
Beatrice married Jim Stewart and they had one daughter, Vesta, who married Mr ?? Taylor and lives in Hamilton, Ontario area, I believe.
Willard married and had 3 sons, Jimmy, Bobby and Ricky all of whom I think live in the Boston area.Willard retired to Florida and died there, I believe.
Mary married Mr. ?? Paul and they had one son, Jackie.
Albert, may have changed his name to McGregor but my dad was unsure of this and had not kept in contact with him.
Milledge's brother Will? had a son Cecil, my dad's cousin.Cecil is mentioned in your previous posting. He and his family (2 sons - Charles and ??)from Ontario came to visit us in Kelowna, BC when I was about 13 or 14.
My dad left St. John when he was 17 and joined the Merchant Navy. Then when war broke out he joined the army and was stationed in Victoria where he met my mother, Jennie Smith and they were married in Kelowna, my mother's birthplace. They had one son, Roandl Bruce Giggey (Bruce) who lives in Salmon Arm (married to Lee Fuller and with 3 daughters, Laureen, Terra Lee and Jennifer) and myself, married to Robin Hartle of the UK, but now separated and living in West Vancouver, no children.
My mother, Jennie, died in 1991 and Dad died in 1997, both in Kelowna.
When I was a small girl, we found there wasanother Giggey listed in the Vancouver telephone directory. My parents contacted them and I seem to remember visiting them at one point but also that we could find no family connection.
Also before Dad died, he received a letter from a woman in Oregon who seemed to be researching the Giggey or Giggie name and had found him.He was unable to reply so I did but received no answer.I will haveher letter in storage and will try to find it.
Hope this is of interest.
Look forward to any further information.
