No, the Gifford line doesn't go back to 1011. The earliest is William Gifford, who came to Massachusetts in the 1640s. Any link to earlier families you see on the internet is wishful thinking. If you want to see more about the Giffords in England, go to http://home.comcast.net/~pgifford11.
