HELLO,
I'm writing from Italy. I hope that someone could help me.
My family has a wonderful painting, a portret of a young lady, late XVII, which has an inscription: Mary Gifford. daughter of Will, 1678(the last 2 digits are not very clear), gift to Richard Jones earl of Bamboury (nont sure of this name!)" the name of the painter is Wissing.
Is there anybody who can tell me who this Mary was and what happened to her?
