Hi, Steve,
There were a couple of Giese families in Bay City - one that of a Daniel Giese and one of Carl August Giese (to whose line I do not think you belong). Then there were a couple Giese families in Sterling in Arenac County - and all kinds of them all over the United States!
Giese was a very common name in West Prussia. There must be a way of narrowing this down at least a little.
Maybe if we keep at it, we'll get closer.
