Jim - thanks for the information but my Alice was born abt 1795 so this would make her about fifty years older than your Alce/Alice. Alice is one of my brick walls and I hope somday to find her parents. I did not think of looking for her under the name of Elsie so I will go back to the vital records and have another look and will also check out RI.
