My name is Elain Carter Gidley Houston. Charles Gidley was my father. He was born in Alabama and moved to Huntsville, TX, around 1956. He was the Liberian at the Sam Houston University and died of leukemia in 1960. The dorm was named in his honor after his death. Apparently there is no record at the university because I tried to make a donation in his name in the '80 and no one seemed to know anything about him. His wife was Ann Carter Hays Gidley Smallwood(second marriage). She is buried in Montgomery, AL and Charles is buried in Jacksonville, AL.
I just happened on your message and am now excited about following up. I know very little about that side of my family.
