To Judith- thanks for your reply - you've been such a help to me! I've now managed to trace the christenings of Elizabeth Gidley (1836) and George Gidley (1840). They are younger siblings to Henry Colman Gidley (my great-grandfather). Both he and his sister Mary Colman Gidley (1832) were christened at West Teignmouth in Devon, but Elizabeth and George were both christened at St. James the Apostle, Dover, Kent, which ties in with Sarah Gidley and children entries in the 1841 census in Dover which you gave me. You say that George Gidley was back in West Teignmouth for the 1841 census - I hope that was only temporary and that he was still living with his wife and children! Don't suppose I'll ever know the answer to that one! He was originally from Honiton on Otter, Devon, parents Courtenay and Margaret Gidley.I was VERY interested in the Cavalier ancestor in the Civil War and would dearly love to have further details. Hope to hear from you soon - thanks once again from Pamela
