When Mary Giddens was applying for war pension she didnt have a certificate for Thomas Fighting in the war so that left a trail of legal documents one of the documents states
"she further declares that she was maried
to the same Thomas Giddens in the county of Bulloch
on the twenty fifth day of april A.D. 1825 and she and his name before the said marrige was Mary Nevels that her said husband died at
his residence in Lowndes county on the 22nd day of feb 185~
and that she is now a widow"
aside from the fact that John was born before the marrige date I also have a court record stating that Mary Giddens was John Giddens Step Mother
