Hi JAmes,

I have more info on the Giddens since the last file I sent you. All the new info I have indicates a rather staggered movement from Ill to Tex. Absolum was first, then James Richard and Henry Shockley about 1833, CAvalry came about 1840, Edward made it by 1842. I am guessing Reuben came about 1841 and after his wife died.(No one has a death date for her so it's a guess.) Don't know when William Preece made it, but was sometime in 1830's. (I am sure some of the Preece researchers would know.) No One has a death date for Reuben but everyone is using a land record that mentioned Reuben dated about 1852 so they are saying he died about 1854. I am suggesting he died before 1850 in Tex. I was hoping Hiram may have told us something about Reuben in the 1880 but he didn't know.
Both Hiram and Edward's first wives apparently died before reaching Tex or Ark. Edward probably married in Benton Co Ark.

I suspect all the related Giddens in Wilkes Co NC had moved on by 1816.

I believe Reuben was born in NC. JAmes Giddens (the Older) was in Burke Co by 1779. Whether James was related to the Giddens of Wilkes is unknown to me. I don't have the Burke records to locate him.

Let me check my Giddens records for new info.

RAy
