Ray, Reuben and Nancy's 5th child was
Edward R. Giddens born in N.C. in 1808.
This Edward was later in Tx with Reuben and family. The families went back and forth between Red River Co. and Hopkins Co. Edward R. is on Hopkins Co. records of 1850 as 42 yr born in N.C. Records show Edward R Giddens married Jane Marcum 25 Feb 1830 in Vermillion Co. ILL.
Hopkins Co. records show this Edward and wife Virginia. 1850 Hopkins census show her 39 yrs and born in Va. Jane Marcum must have died. Edward's oldest brother was Richard Franklin Giddens (my line).
They were all in Red River, Tx by the 1830s They all had a bunch of children and the other lines seem to spread to Hopkins Co, then Cass & Lamar Co. then
James R. (Richard's son) widow went to Greenville Tx, then to OK with their 4 sons. Reuben's 8th child was Hiram born in Ky in 1813. This Hiram named his 3 child (1st boy) Hiram born in ILL.. They were all in Mo. in 1850 and Independence Co,Ark in 1870. (Looks like Hiram and family stayed behind) I have also been told that Reuben came from Iraland as a young man. Since I can not locate his parents I assume this is the case. I am searching for Reuben's death record. He died in R.R. Co but their death records do not go that far back. I plan to check with Austin, Tx in state records. In early Texas days, Red River Co. (dist) cover what is now more than 8 counties. It would seem the 1790 Edwards may have been a brother or cousin to Reuben. I am rambling on. Thanks for all the info you have sent me.
Sincerly, Jim Giddens, Paris, Tx
