Trip to Wilkes Co. N.C. in Oct

I am planning to travel to N.C. for the first time ever. I hope to locate the land that was owned in Wilkes Co. by Reuben Giddens around 1800 and to at least walk on the same land. Dates are not fixed, but probably the second week of Oct. Also trying to connect him to other Giddens in the area prior to 1800. I would appreciate any help or suggestions on this and if any of you are in the area, maybe we could meet.
