(07/26/2003) Jean Finny Giddens, of Austin, passed away Thursday morning in Austin. She was born and reared in DeLand, Florida, to Henry C. Finney and Mary Junkins Finney and graduated from the Stetson University in DeLand, Florida. She worked at the Naval Department in Washington, D.C. during World War II. She married Homer A. Giddens in 1947 in Washington, D.C. She is survived by her husband, Homer A. Giddens of Austin; one daughter, Lynn Stewart of Colorado; one son, Scott Giddens of California; one grandson, J. C. Giddens of New York City, New York; and five other grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Sunday July 27, 2003, at the Austin Memorial Park Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Rick Myers officiating. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Cornerstone Hospital, and her caregiver, Emma Lee Joarnt.
