Sorry I've been amiss in responding your post. That Giddens you are speaking of in Hawkins Co., Tn...is in fact Gideon...Edward Gideon immigrated to Mecklenburg Co., NC...married Martha Patty Mills ...and moved from there to Hawkins Co., Tn...had quite a number of childred. Son Edward married and had children. I followed this family through numerours efforts more than I care to remember then heard from some Descendants...ages ago...this is all published in a State of NC Genealogical Hardbound book...but also in 1969 ...a Mrs. Josserand, now long dead did a small book on this family...she descended from...she like myself had problems with the name but the carrying on Of the name Of Isham...seemed to tie it down for her..and I must have found the same things...think if I remember right Edward took up and moved to Ky...other children remained in Hawkins Co and you will find them in Clairborne Co., Tn...too....the name is Gideon...however...not the same as the Company that makes the bible....
