Hi Susan
Whilst I have no evidence that your branch of the GIDDONS are related to the GIDDINGS family it seems likely. When transcribing GIDDINGS entries, I included as many variations as I had time for.
I think that Alfred Joseph GIDDONS was a younger son of (Richard) Samuel GIDDONS and Susan, who were married in the Billericay District in Jan-Mar 1853. FreeBMD will give the reference. Richard's name may well have been spelled GIDDENS.
