Hello, I have Giddens/Giddion/Gideon (the spelling varies widely) ancestors from Mo. and Tn. Hetty (Hettie)Orlena Giddens, wife of Simon Bass Gaither was my ggrandmother b.6/24/1832 Grainger Co.Tenn d. 8/14/1907 Rayborn, Wright Co. Mo.Her parents were: Samuel Franklin Giddens b.5/27/1804 Knox Co. Tn. d. 11/15/1862 Laclede Co. Mo. and Eizabeth J. Brown b.5/5/1810 Spartanburg Dist. S.C. d. 1/31/1887 Sherill, Texas Co. Mo. Family History says she was Cherokee Indian. They had 15 children.(I'll share their names if anyone is interested)
Samuel's father was Roger Giddens b.1770
d. 1819 Knox Co. Tn. His wife's name was Magdaline. It is not likely that Roger or his son Samuel were of Indian Origin.
