Dear Karen,
Thank you for the e-mail about the Gibson family history.
I am wondering if there were two John Gibsons? I saw some material that makes me think that in a book byRobert Headley (editor), "Wills of Richmond County, Va., 1699-1800" (Baltimore: Genealogical Pub. Co., 1983), p. 127. Headley abstracted the following from page 331 of the original will book:
John Gibson, NFP, will; 2 Mar 1763, 4 Apr. 1763 chil. William, Rawleigh, Anne HOWARD, Mary, Priscilla, and Winnie; ex: s-i-l Thomas HOWARD and son Rawleigh; wits: Alexander DALE, Gabriel SMITHER. [John Gibson mar. Elizabeth CALL in NFP on 7 Aug 1729; the births of their chil. are rec. in the NFPR, p. 68.]
The NFP stands for North Farnham Parish, which is in Richmond County, Va.
These children seem to be different that the ones you listed. So maybe there were two separate John Gibsons? I had seen on a genforum listing that a "John Gibson" had a father named "James."To date, I have not been able to find in the Richmond County records who was the father of the"John Gibson" that married Elizabeth Call. Would you know what the sources for the info. that you have are?
