Sounds like your husband may have been a cousin of mine. I have Virginia lines, Fleming, Tarleton,Banks,Randolph,Carter, Tinsley,Royal, Perrin,Napier,Bates,Ruffin,Banister,and of course; Gibson.
Joseph Royal came from England on the "Charitis" in July of 1622. He md 1st Thomassia 2nd Ann, his 3rd wife was Katherine Banks. He died c.1655/58. Katherine Banks Royal then married Henry Isham as her 2nd husband. Her daughter Katherine Royal md Richard Perrin. Their daughter Mary Katherine Perrin b.1675 md Capt. Robert Napier b. c. 1660,a officer in the colonial Militia, the son of Dr. Patrick Napier,Jr; and Elizabeth Booth d/o Robert Booth. Their daughter Katherine b. Oct 12,1700 who md John Adams is my line (family history is this is a relative of President John Adams but I can't make the connection)
My Col. Charles Fleming b. c.1652 in New Kent County, Va md Susannah Tarleton b.c.1655 There children were: Susannah b.c.1685 md John Bates (my line) ,Judith md Thomas Randolph, John md Mary Bolling (Pocahuantas line), Tarleton md Hannah Bates, Grace md George Bates, jr. Ursula md Tarleton Woodson, Anna md Josias Paine (ancestor of Dolly Madison), Elizabeth md Samuel Jordan,and Sarah md Bowler Cocke; who md 2nd Elizabeth(Hill)Carter.
I have a Elizabeth Randolph d/o John Randolph who was b.c. 1620 in Yorkshire, England. She md. Thomas Tinsley I. b. 1618 in Yorkshire, England and d c.1702 St. Peters Parish, New Kent Co, Va. Her father was John Randolph of b.c.1595 England. Do you have any thing on them?
Since this is the Gibson site i will add a couple of Gibson tid bits.
Thomas Gibson b.1768 declaration made Pitts Co, Va April 25, 1822, then age 72. He died May 30, 1840 Enlisted a private in Va Light Horse , Marched to Williamsburg, Va in the fall was transferred to the Continental Army, and served in Col Theodorick Blands Armsy 1st Regiment of Light Dragoons. he was at the" Battle of Barndywine", Germantown and "Monomouth". He was also in Col. William Washington's 3rd regiment of Light Dragoons. he was at the "Battle of Cowpens"," Guilford Court House" where he broke his leg, and was severly wounded in the head at Eutaw Springs.
Discharged Dec 1778. I am related to a earlier Thomas Gibson. I don't know whether this is my Thomas Gibson's relation or not.
