Hi Val,
I felt pretty sure Gibeon Gibson (died 1792) came from South Carolina. Your work looks rock solid. I was doubtful about Gibeon's ancestry before and feel great doubt about it now. Mary McBride said it was clear from her studies of the writings of Senator Randall Lee Gibson for a period of thirty years or so that he knew nothing of his remote ancestry. He was accused of being part black in some of his election campaigns in Louisiana. My sister had the autosomal DNA testing done on herself. This type of DNA testing attempts to measure an individual's mixed geographic heritage by identifying particular markers, called ancestry informative markers or AIM, that are associated with populations of specific geographical areas. It uses more than just the sex chromosome. It can identify people with black or American Indian ancestry. Her test showed neither. I don't have a copy of the test and only heard about it recently. Bill LaBach.
