My husband's ancestor, Ralph Jones Gibson was a son of Jacob Gibson and Catherine McGraw who md. in Amite co., Ms. in 1819 and lived in Pike Co. where Jacob had died by 1842 when Catherine married second, a Jesse Thomas.
Sarah McGraw Hamilton, sister of Catherine named a son Joel G. Hamilton and in other lines back from Jacob, Joel is a given name. When Jacob (husband of Catherine) father died he had other sons who were named Thomas and Joseph, his son Michael died in war of 1812 and his son-in-law Barnaby Curry was guardian of Michael's children, names unknown. This Jacob who died in 1818 (between Jan. and August) also had daughters named Mary, Ann, Martha, Judith and Clarissa. In 1818 the heirs signed off in the court minutes to divide sell the negroes of the estate of Jacob Gibson. Those heirs were (Mary-wife) sons Jacob, Thomas and Joseph; Ann Fort; Levi Blunt and Barnaby Curry.
Does anyone know if MAJOR could be related to Jacob's line?
Jacob died 1818 was son of Rev. Jacob Gibson of Fairfield Co./Dist. SC.
