Dorothy Gibson
GIBSON, DOROTHY M., Dorothy Mary Gibson passed away suddenly at her residence in Dallas, Texas, on May 2, 2007. She was 86 years old. Born Dorothy Mary Reynolds in Chicago, Illinois, on September 8, 1920, she graduated from Harper High School in Chicago in 1938, and attended the College of St. Theresa, Winona, Minnesota, before graduating with a B.S. in Sociology from Mundelein College in 1942. She was married on January 6, 1943 to her high school sweetheart, Fred W. Gibson, in Chicago. Mrs. Gibson worked for the child welfare department of the City of Chicago and of the City of Seattle, Washington, while her husband was serving in World War II. After her husband's graduation from the University of Illinois School of Dentistry in 1950, Dr. and Mrs. Gibson were stationed at Randolph Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, where Mrs. Gibson served as a volunteer nurse at Brooks Army Medical Center during the Korean War. Following Dr. Gibson's discharge from the service, he established his practice in San Antonio, where they remained and raised their family. Dr. Gibson passed away in 2000. Mrs. Gibson is survived by her son, Fred W. Gibson, Jr., and his wife, Sara, of Fairfax Station, Virginia, her daughter, Georgiana Gibson Shelokov, and her husband, Alexis P. Shelokov, of Dallas, Texas, and her son, Timothy G. P. Gibson, and his wife, Janie, of Alhambra, California; and by seven grandchildren, Katie, Kevin, Amanda, Liz, Nick, Lara, and Jack.
