Hi Kerry
You and I are related.Robert Gibson was born in the 1850s in Bangor and was the son of Alexander Gibson, a butcher. The Gibsons had a butcher's shop at 3 Castle Street, Bangor. Most of our Gibsons stayed in Castle Street after Alexander's death, and they can be found there in the 1901 census of the town.
My great grandfather, John Gibson (born Belfast in 1894), was the first cousin of your William Gibson who went to Australia. My great grandfather apparently often spoke of Gibson relations who left Bangor for Australia and were supposedly never heard from again.
There are Gibsons from my own branch of the family tree who went to Australia from Northern Ireland in the 1950s, settling in Adelaide.
Get in touch if you can; I've tried emailing you but with no success.
