WILLIAM GIBSON: ENG to Shreveport, LA, early & mid-1800s
WILLIAM GIBSON was born in England into a cheese-making family.Going by his children's birthdates, I’m guessing that Wm. was born btwn. 1800-1825.According to family lore William served in the Civil War;he may have died at some point during the war.I know nothing about his wife except that she was born in LA according to census records. He had at least 4 children that I know of, all born in LA:
-- WILLIAM, b. 1846 in LA; d. 1902, buried North Hickory Cemetery, Ada, Pontotoc Co., OK
-- S. H. [male], b. 1848 in LA; d. 1901, buried North Hickory Cemetery, Ada, Pontotoc Co., OK
-- CHARLOTTE, b. abt. 1850 in LA; d. 1901 or 1902, reportedly in Allen, Pontotoc Co., OK; burial place unknown
-- MARY, b. abt. 1852 in LA;died – unknown
I found S.H., Mary and Charlotte in the 1880 Cooke Co., TX (Gainesville) census; they were living next door to my GGrandfather, ALLEN BRANT FERGUSON, his 2 young daughters, and his brother & sister, Lewis and Frances.Charlotte & Allen B. married and had four children of their own: William Ira, Addie Lee, Delia Ann ('Dee'), and Fannie.
I am Fannie's granddaughter.Charlotte told Fannie that she grew up in Shreveport, LA.Charlotte's sister (Mary's the only one I know of) reportedly married a man whose last name was 'RAY' or 'RHEA;'they lived in Guthrie, OK during the early 1900s.
Are there any descendants of William's other children out there - or anyone else - with additional information on these people?
Thanks very much.
