Hi, Robby -

No Loughneys that I know of - I haven't gotten that far yet. But I'm still looking.

My great-grandparents lived in Belmullet in Mayo because my ggf was a constable with the Royal Irish Constabulary until 1896.

He patrolled Mayo, Galway and Sligo in his job as the local police force. My ggm died in 1888 in Belmullet at the age of 22 and my ggf returned to Roscommon with his children (my grandmother and her brother). He became a farmer and is recorded in the 1901 Irish Census (which is available online) living in Drumman More. However, my grandmother emigrated 4, almost 5 years later and she then gave her home town as Ballaghderreen in Roscommon.

If you check the ordnance listings, you'll see there are tons of Giblins living in the Ballaghderreen, Tibohine and Frenchpark areas.

My next goal is to find out when my ggf died, where he is buried and who his family was. I'll let you know if I find any Loughneys!
