William T. Giberson, for many years a prominent man of affairs in this community, died Sunday, September 4, age 73 years, after a long illness. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, at 2:00 PM at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Tilton. Rev. Charles S. Fees, pastor of the M.E. Church, with which the Giberson family was long connected, conducted the service.

Mr . Giberson was for the greater part of his life a resident of Toms River. He came of Norman-French stock (Guisbertson) and was the son of Mr. and Mrs Cooper Giberson. In early life he started in the sawmill business, buying up cedar swamps, cuting them off and making lumber, boards and shingles. He also made theold fashioned two part cranberry crate, which is used exclusively in New Jersey. An intensely hard worker he accumulated money, built larger mills, and also built a large number of houses on the tract in South Toms River, west of Main Street, and along the river. When his big mill burnt down, he built another on the hill south of Shreves pond, on the opposite side of Main Street. His last venture in sawmills were in the neighborhood of Tuckerton. For the past ten years he had spent much time in Florida, where he operated in lands and houses, buying and building, as he had done in Toms River. Having been extremely ill about two years ago, he came north, and did not go to Florida las winter, fitting himself and wife in an apartment in Dover Street.

His first wife, a former Miss Imlay, died some years ago, and he married again. He leaves a widow, Mrs. Bertha Giberson, and three daughters, Mrs. Laura Morey of Trenton, Mrs, Bernice Tilton and Miss Anna Geneva Gibeson of Toms River, and several grandchildren. William T. Giberson owned several saw mills in Ocean County, NJ. He also owned large cedar tracts at Silverton and Waretown. He was known as one of the most substantial and conservative of businessmen in Toms River.

He was married to Althea G. IMLAY (daughter of David IMLAY and Rachel CRANMER) on December 21, 1898 in Ocean County, New Jersey. Althea G. IMLAY was born on March 17, 1851 in New Jersey. She was buried in 1922 in Riverside Cemetery. She died on August 7, 1922 in Toms River, Ocean County, New Jersey. William T. GIBERSON and Althea G. IMLAY had the following children:

LILLIAN GIBERSON, 69, of Stafford Township, died Thursday at Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood.

Mrs. Giberson was a member of the Manahawkin Baptist Church.

Born in Forked River, she was a lifelong resident of Stafford Township.

She is survived by two sons, Everett H. Jr. and Thomas, both of Manahawkin; and two daughters, Joyce Stevenson of Warren Grove, and Eldora Olley of McGuire Air Force Base in Burlington County.

Services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at the Shinn Funeral Home, She resided in 1991 in Stafford Township, Ocean County, New Jersey. Everett H GIBERSON and Lillian (GIBERSON) had the following children:

       38       i.       Everett H GIBERSON Jr.
       39       ii.       Thomas GIBERSON resided in 1991 in Manahawkin, Ocean County, New Jersey.
       +40       iii.       Joyce GIBERSON .
       +41       iv.       Eldora GIBERSON.



FIFTH GENERATION

36. Zelda GIBERSON (Joseph Henry-4, Harry Warden-3, Joseph Henry-2, James-1) .

She was married to Jerome BRAGG.

37. Joseph Henry GIBERSON III (Joseph Henry-4, Harry Warden-3, Joseph Henry-2, James-1) was born on October 29, 1931. He resided 76 North Main Street in 1984 in Manahawkin, Ocean County, New Jersey.

He was married to Barabara HABGOOD. Barabara HABGOOD was born on March 2, 1938. She died on March 28, 1981. Joseph Henry GIBERSON III and Barabara HABGOOD had the following children:

       42       i.       Ken GIBERSON.

40. Joyce GIBERSON (Everett H-4, Harry Warden-3, Joseph Henry-2, James-1) resided in 1991 in Warren Grove, Ocean County, New Jersey.

She was married to STEVENSON.

41. Eldora GIBERSON (Everett H-4, Harry Warden-3, Joseph Henry-2, James-1) resided in 1991 in McGuire Air Force Base, Burlington County, New Jersey.

She was married to OLLEY.
