To the Honourable Nathaniel Pendleton Esquire Chief Justice of the said State and the Assistant Justices of the County of Wilkes.
The Petition of Nathaniel Miller
Humbly Showeth
That on or about the twenty fifth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty Phillip Gibbs of the County of Wilkes, two rifle guns the known property of your Petitioner did take, and convert to his own use to the damage of your Petitioner fifty pounds sterling.
WHEREFORE your Petitioner prays process may issue requiring the said Phillip Gibbs personally or by his attorney to be and appear before the Justices of the Superior Court, to be held in and for the County if Wilkes, on the first Monday in August next then and there to answer your Petitioner in an action of trover and conversion and so forth

To all and singular the sheriffs of the said State, Greeting.
The respondent Phillip Gibbs is hereby required personally or by his attorney to be and appear before the Justices of the Superior Court to be held in and for the County of Wilkes on the first Monday in August next then and there to answer the Plaintiffs demands in an action of trover and conversion and so forth, to his damage fifty pounds specie.As in default of such appearance the said Justices will proceed as the Justice shall appertain.
