Rev. John Gibbs of Burke County, NC had a son named James who married Rebecca Mashburn on April 14, 1823. James left Burke County with his family, moved to Georgia, and then possibly to Blount County, Alabama. Any information on James would be appreciated. In Blount County there is a Gibbs Chapel Church. Is there any connection with this Gibbs family? I saw a cemetery listing from Gibbs Chapel and a Rebecca Gibbs was listed as being buried there, possibly James' wife. James' brother William is my direct ancestor. William remained in Burke County, NC and is buried in the Obeth Methodist Church Cemetery beside his parents.
