Patrick T is my g-g-grandfather. I am a descendant from his marriage to Hannah (Anne) Lenahan. My g-grandmother was born in Newcastle-on-Tyne, England. I am assuming the Hannah and Patrick were married there. Family lore has it that Hannah's family was upset by the marriage as she married down as they said in those days. At some point after they immigrated to Scranton, Patrick T owned and operated a tavern. After Hannah died Patrick married Bridget Mulhern who had worked in the tavern. My grandmother (Mary Anna in 1880 census known to me as Margaret Jane) who would have been about 13 or 14 at the time evidently gave Bridget a LOT of grief. She got shipped off to a convent school. She did learn excellent needle skills there. With some kind of poetic justice she married a widower Michael Harrity with several children and became a second wife herself. I know that she stayed close with her brother Dennis (Uncle Dan). Sometime in the 1920's and 1930's there is a minor exodus of Gibbons's and Harrity's from Scranton to Chicago, Uncle Dan was instrumental in helping the others find jobs. The last time I saw and of the Gibbon's family was when I met Uncle Dan's daughter Honey Gibbons at my Uncle John Harrity's funeral in Chicago in March of 1969. My mom had always been in awe of Honey Gibbons height. ;-)
