Hello Gibbons: I research the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 12,700,000 surviving rcds for abt 70% of Irish counties. Rcds are increasingly sparse B4 1840, rare B4 1800. Note 1 - Without a KNOWN county, the chance of an ancestor's rcds NOT being in this database is AT LEAST 30%. Note 2 - Only 1/2 of Co. Cork's rcds are in this database. Note 3 - The RC church kept control over most parish rcds from Tipperary (north). These are ONLY available thru the Tipperary Family History Research center at a substantial fee (regardless of outcome). For Pat(rick) Gibbons B 1880 +/- 2 yrs, Co. Galway, with the father's forename unknown, I found 7 rcds: 1878 Ballynakill RC, 1878 Roundstone RC, 1879 Clonbur RC, 1879 Clifden RC, 1879 Williamstown CP, 1880 Glenamaddy CP, and 1881 Eyrecourt CP. Father's respective forenames were Patrick, Michael, Michael, John, Edward, John, and John. For Michael Gibbons B 1887 ditto, I found 6 rcds: 1886 Roundstone RC, 1886 Glenamaddy CP, 1887 Clonbur RC, 1887 Roundstone RC, 1888 Milltown RC, and 1888 Dunmore CP. Father's respective forenames were Michael, John, Pat(rick), Michael, David, and David. A father forenamed Michael and Roundstone RC seem to fit the above ancestors best. For Honor Joyce B 1890 ditto, I found 8 rcds: 1889 Clonbur RC, 1890 Roundstone RC, 1890 Clonbur RC, 1891 Ballynakill RC, 1891 Clonbur RC, 1892 Athenry RC, 1892 Ballynakill RC, and 1892 Roundstone RC. Father's respective forenames were John, Festus, Michael, John, William, John, John, and Martin. Google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Register, opt to be notified as rcds are added and browse. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg. Hope this helps. Good luck. Notify Administrator about this message?
