Dear Sbiles, saw your Gibbon posting today. John Gibbon was my great-grandmother's older brother--he was the 4th child, she was the 9th of John Heysham Gibbon and Catherine Lardner (Gibbon). I don't have anything on his descendants, but I have his ancestry going back about five generations, which I shall be glad to share.

I'm also doing a brief biography of John for our Moore-Gibbon family reunion next summer, so I would likewise appreciate any information on John. He was a brigade commander in Hancock's corps defending at the point of Pickett's charge at Gettysburg. He's also rather famous for his part in the cavalty-Indian wars in the west (including burying Custer). Cordially, David Moore
