My great-grandfather was a Gibbins in England (I don't know his first name...)who fought and died in WWI. His widow, Rhoda, emigrated to Ontario, I believe, with their infant son, John (Jack)Arthur Gibbins (b: 1912?). I believe there were siblings, but I don't know names. John married Margaret Jean Smith around 1938-9 and settled in Winnipeg, passed away 1991. Descedents now live in Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Calgary. Is there any connection between my great-grandfather and the Gibbins that emigrated to Vancouver around the same time...?
