We do not know in which county William was born; however, his wife, Mattie Haynes came from Cass Co. TX, which is very close to Hopkins Co., William was working on the railroad and we believe that was why he lived in the Durant/Colbert, OK area. This area was still considered Choctaw Nation in Indian Territory at that time as Oklahoma was not yet a state. Mattie and William had a son, James Walter Gibbins, Sr., who was born in Platter, OK in 1900. James Walter married Clara Ellen Alexander who was born in Franklin Co., Texas and grew up in Wood Co, also near Cass and Hopkins Cos.
