You may or may not already know this but here goes...

The Gibbins family name is thought to be traced back to Old Ireland. The name Gibbins suposedly comes from the word "Giberish".
Thought has it that the "gibbins" in the village was the village idiot. (well thats what I found !) Hope this comes to be of interest ...
