Bonne Terre Star, Bonne Terre, MO, June 2, 1899 Died - At her home in Bonne Terre, Friday, May 26, 1899, Mrs. Margaret Gibbins, aged 62 years, 3 months and 22 days. Died- At the home of his daughter in Bonne Terre, Thursday, June 1, 1899, Mr. Michael Gibbins, aged 74 years, 5 months. Mr. Gibbins was born near Meo, Ireland, and at an early age come to this county, and, landing at Cincinnati, remained there until he was 21 years old, when he removed to this vicinity, where he married Miss Margaret Garrett. To them thirteen children were born, eight of whom still survive. The children are: Frank Gibbins, of Bonne Tere. Jesse Gibbins, of Bonne Terre. Mrs. T. Bellknap, Doe Run, Mo. Mrs. J. B. Bruce, Desloge, Mo. Mrs. Clay Thurman and Mrs. M. E. Cloud, of Bonne Terre. The disease which caused Mrs. Gibbins' death was consumption. She was buried from Centenary church by Rev. Josephus Stephan, Sunday, May 28. Mr. Gibbins, while preparing to remove a stable from his place to Mrs. Cloud's, fell from the top of the stable, about 11 o'clock Wednesday, and although the bdst [sic] medical aid was summoned, he died at 12 o'clock, Thursday, June 1, without regaining consciousness. He will be buried today. Notes: The message above was typed and spelled exactly the way the obit was written. Although the obit says 8 children are living, only 6 are named. The other 2 children are Martha Catherine, who married John J. Leonard and Julia Ann who married 1) Taylor Robinson and 2) Milton Paul Leonard. John and Milton Leonard were brothers.
