I am not related to Vern. I have been researching old county newspapers for the local historical society.
I recently found the name of the other newspaper that Vern founded in Dawson. It is the Dawson Herald, first published May 19, 1921. It is still being published, but as a consolidation reduced to one page of the nearby Humboldt Standard. He sold out April 5, 1923 and moved to Falls City.
