My grandfather, Vern GIBBENS, was born in Campbell Co, NE. He had three newspapers (according to my mother) but I don't know the names of them. He married Ida Grace BOBBITT GIBBENS who was born in Goodland, KS. Her parents then moved back to NE. My mother said they had moved around a lot. She had several brothers and sisters and most were born in different places. Most in NE. My mother was born in SD, 1916, where Vern was an Indian Agent at the Rosebud Reservation. Later, he moved to Missouri. He was a store owner. He was robbed and pistol whipped. He died from his injuries about 3 years after it happened. He is buried in Missouri.
Vern's parents were Andrew Jackson GIBBENS and Martha Jane HENDRICKS. He had brothers Orlie, and Henry. He had a sister named Bertha. He also had a sister/brother named Francis. I haven't been able to find this person after Andrew and his first wife, Elizabeth JOBES, were divorced.
Does this sound like they are the same.
