Dear John, or whoever is reading this. I was interested to read your notes about your ancestors inc one, Richard Gibbens. I am writing from Bristol, England. I know practically nothing about my ancestry or the origin of my surname, but I had a grandfather and great-grandfather called Richard Gibbens. My name is Paul Gibbens, born London, England on 6th June 1955. Married with four children. My father was Edwin Arthur (Ted) Gibbens born London 23rd May 1924, died Bristol 18th Feb 1988. He was among the first wave of allied troops in the Normandy landings in 1944 and was injured there. Married my late mother, 1954 My dad's dad was Richard Gibbens, an electrical engineer born London 1893, died London in April 1960. (I just about remember him). I believe his father was also a Richard Gibbens Until I looked at the internet today I was totally unaware that so many people shared the "e" derivative of the surname, with so many in the US. If you are able to give me any details about the origin of our surname this would be really good. We may even share common blood ancestry? Regards Paul Gibbens, Bristol, England
