I am also doing research on the Giannini family name. My great-grandmother's (Mary) maiden name. She married Walter B. Gentry. My grandmother's family lives in and around Charlottesville, VA. She often talked of a relative who lived near Montecello (grandfather/uncle?) who had connections with horses (Secretariat). Walter (Poppu)and 'Mama' Mary had several children 6-8: Gordon, Maisie, Ollie, Gertrude, Lorena, Anderson, Richard. Lorena was a twin - can't recall if her twin was Ollie or Gertrude. Anderson was a baseball player and had just been drafted to play major ball but was found murdered in his car (in the streets of DC?) Perhaps the Giannini's you speak of may possibly be related to my great-greatgrandmother Mary?
