There is a family organization "Gianninis of VA" located in Charlottesville, VA. They have published a Giannini family descendants book - Antonio & Maria Giannini on down.
You may be able to get further information from them in regards to your questions. I see Richard Meeks is listed (along with many other Meeks'), however, I don't see any descendants for Richard.
A person who might be able to point you in the right direction is O. Allan Gianniny, Jr., 1711 King Mountain Rd., Charlottesville, VA 22901.
