I am seeking to fill the gap in my lineage to Giovanni Antonio Giannini, who was born c. a. June 15, 1747, Lucca Italy and died abt. 1824, Albemarle, Va. According to information given by my ggggrandmother, Margaret Ann Floyd Henderson (b. June 17, 1833, Nelson County, Va, and d. January 8, 1924, Highland Co., Va)., her mother Susan I Meeks, who was born in 1814, Nelson Co., Va, and married James C. Floyd, April 21, 1832, Amherst County, Va., was the ggrandau. of a baptist minister, Anthony Genoino, who came to this country from Sicily, Italy with his w., Lillian Mordenia and six children. According to Edgar Woods', History of Albemarle County, p. 360, " . . . In 1784, Anthony Gianniny bought land on Buck Island Creek. In 1792 he petitioned for liberty to build a mill on that stream. One of the same name, no doubt a son, became a Baptist minister, and was licensed to celebrate the rites of matrimony in 1807. A Nicholas Gianniny was one of his surities." I believe that baptist minister is my ancestor. I can find two instances of Meeks marrying Gianninis: From Albemarle County Marriage Bonds: Micks, Richard m. Peggy Gianniny, 9 March 1791. Meaks, William m. Catharine Gianniny, 17 July 1793. According to info. I have gotten from the WFT disks, William resided in southern West Virginia, and died in 1850 in Kanawha County, W. Va. (then Va.). I don't believe he is the baptist minister, since my ancestors seem to have stayed in the Amherst, Albemarle, Nelson County area before migrating to Highland County, Va. I strongly suspect my ancestors are Richard Meeks and Peggy Gianniny. I need the correct name of Susan I Meeks' father and mother. Can anyone help me join these "missing links"?
