Merino J. Giacomini
SHERMAN - Merino J. Giacomini, 86, of Sherman, died at 5:25 am, Friday, June 24, 2011 at St. John's Hospice. He was born July 7, 1924 in Springfield, Illinois to Constantino and Caterina Temperelli Giacomini. He married Dorothy Mae Schwener on October 19, 1946 and she preceded him in death in September 1994. Also preceding him in death were his parents; one son, John S. Giacomini, one brother Dominic and three sisters, Salina, Linda and Helen.
Survivors include two sons James J. Giacomini and Joseph B. (Mary Lynn) Giacomini both of Sherman; five grandchildren, Alica, Rachel, Brad, Matthew and Chrissy; one sister Lena Ostenberg of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Merino was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran serving during WWII. He was a Licensed Journeyman carpenter. He retired from Sears & Roebuck as a Division Manager after 32 years. Upon retirement he moved to Brooksville, Florida in 1984.
Visitation: 5-7 pm, Monday, June 27, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 5 pm.
Funeral Mass: 1 pm, Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at St. John Vianney in Sherman, with Monsignor Carl Kemme officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
