Dear Betty,
Yes we've made contact last year.My father had to have part of his foot removed last year because of diabetes and I was taking care of him.As you can imagine it's been pretty rough going, and I just didn't have the time to work on the family tree.
I do however, still have the package with the copy of the picture of James Daniel that I planned on sending you earlier.I used the scanners at work (printing company) because they are massive and can bring in the images clearer. If you could send me your home address again to make sure that I have it right I'll get the package in the mail to you yet this week.I tried e-mailing it to my brother to see if it would open as an attachment for you, but he couldn't get it to open.If you'd like I could try sending it to you this way.Maybe you'll have better luck than he did.
I saved the scanned image on a floppy disk (only a few of the computers in the desktop publishing dept. have zip drives and I wasn't sure if you had one). The disk also contains enlarged images of the medals on his uniform (Army of the Potomic and Artillery).
The state of Pennsylvania opened a new National Civil War Museum in the state capitol this past Monday (Harrisburg). As part of the museum you can have a Civil War Veterans name, rank, unit and regiment and such, engraved into a brick that will be placed into the walkway leading into the museum.I have the applications as my nieces, my brother and myself will be adding James' name, and that of another relative.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Kim
