Hey!
My paternal grandparents were from Pinsk, Russia (I believe). My grandma immigrated with her family in 1911. If you'd like more information about who my great grandparents were I could ask my dad.
I did a name look-up-definition search to learn that "Gersh" means "stag" as in someone who hunted stag or who looked like or acted like a stag (deer). It is derived from "Hersh" from Ukraine. My friend at my college has the surname Feldman. She, like me, is Jewish.
