DAGUERREOTYPE portrait depicting robust woman wearing hat.
Measuring 3 1/4"x4 1/4" & in nice condition this daguerreotype is a wonderful example of vintage photography. The embossed typical rose gold colored tin matting bears only two pin sized tarnish spots. Rectangular 3"x4" leading into oval 2 3/4"x3 1/2" framing Hannah. This piece has NOT been taken apart so the tarnish might be able to be buffed away. There is no question that the framing is exquisite....more appealing than the stern portrait! The reverse paper backing reads: HANNAH HINDS HANNAH ALLEN HINDS mother of LYDIA GERRISH 1814-1891 SISTER of CAP'T. STEPHEN ALLEN.
A nicely preserved DAG which would enhance any DAG collection bearing seldom found information on reverse.
