Moses Gerrish became the first permanent settler on Grand Manon in August of 1784. He came from Newbury, MA where he was born June 10, 1744. He died at Grand Harbour Island in 1830. Information from the Nova Scotia Special Interest Group, Genealogy Forum, AOL.
