My grandfather was born in Almdorf Germany. We are bringing my mother over to Germany next year as she has always wanted to see where her father came from. I am trying to track down any info I can and if possible would like to find a address or location that they may have lived. I have put all the details I have below. I would love to know where the records office for Almdorf is so we could try to track down any info when we are there. Are there census records or anything that would show any kind of address? I don't really know much about genealogy so any helpful tips would be appreciated.
Great Grandfather - Nicholas Emil Ketelsen Born on Jan 22nd 1877. Various documents he lists he birthplace as Almdorf or what looks like Chrishoison Schleswig. He was a farmer, I don't know if he owned a farm or was a labourer. He emigrated to the US from Hamburg aboard the vessal Pennsylvania on the 16th of May in 1909. It looks like his wife was named Auguste Fredicksen? possibly born around 1882. Not very clear on the Petition for Naturalization.
Grandfather - Christian Ketelsen- Born on 4-7-1908. It's possible that his name was Ketel in Germany and they changed it to Christian when they got to the US.
He had two sisters that were also born in Germany Anna born on 6-25-04 and Amanda 9-7-05.
