Thanks for yur response and explanation. I am looking for the family of a Carl Henry Eilers. According to the family (or my daughter-in-law), he was born 13 Mar 1875 in Varel, Niedersachson, Germany. However, on the 1910 US Census he says he was born in Oldenburg. I wasn't sure that we had consistent information. He came to the US in 1890 (and if I am looking at the right person), no other person named Eilers accompanied him. Is it likely that there are birth records available in that area and time? Thanks again for you answer. Carol
