Rosemary, an important question:Of the various Saxonies in Germany, what is the source of your information that Albert Hoppert was born in the KINGDOM of Saxony specifically?Did you get that from a reliable record or document?Because there was more than one Saxony, you could find yourself on a wild goose chase otherwise.Even with the correct Saxony, you would not be able to proceed without knowing the exact city, town, or village he was born in.
German churches in the United States tended to keep rather detailed records.ALBERT HOPPERT and MINA FILSER were married on 25 DECEMBER 1859 in NEWARK, NEW JERSEY.I would suggest as your next step requesting a copy of the marriage record from the New Jersey State Archives. If the state marriage record shows that they had a church wedding, your next step then should be to contact the church and request a copy of the church marriage record. That may well name the exact town where Albert was born.
Here is the link.Fill in Groom's Last Name Hoppert, Groom's First Name Albert, and from the County pull-down list, choose Essex. That's sufficient information to fill in.Then click on "Search".When the information appears, click on "Select" at the left. Then click on "Print Order Form".This will take you to the order form, which you fill in and print out, and you then send that with your $10 payment to the New Jersey State Archives:
