Thank you for your advice. I will try to track down the protestant (Lutheran?) churches in Rackwitz.
When we traced the christening record for Wilhelm's wife who was a Catholic from Eltville in the Rhineland, we eventually found that the church records for Eltville were centralised at the Limburg Diocesan Archive (Bistum Limburg Bishofliches Orinariat - Diozesanarchiv). I was hoping that protestant records might be similarly centralised within districts but from your advice I'll concentrate on Rackwitz itself.
