Just a couple of things:

First, his second given name is correctly spelt Gottfried.

Second, like Australia, Germany, too, has always been made up of states. Rackwitz was not located in the German state of Saxony. Rackwitz was located in the German state of Prussia. Wilhelm Gottfried Schauer's naturalisation papers have already told you that.

I do not know how birth records are kept in Australia, but in Germany, birth records are kept where the birth took place. If Wilhelm Gottfried Schauer was born in Rackwitz, then his birth would have been recorded at the church the family attended in Rackwitz. (The state of Prussia did not introduce the civil registration of births, deaths, and marriages until 1874. There would thus be no birth record as such. There would only be his church baptismal record.) His birth certainly would not have been recorded at a church in Leipzig if the family lived in Rackwitz, particularly in view of the fact that Leipzig was located in a different German state, namely, Saxony.
