Franz from Prussia in 1854

My ancestors, Peter, Eliz, Michael & Eliz Boos came from Prussia in 1854 to USA, ended up in Iowa. Looking for place they came from, a grandfather of one of them was a bodyguard for Napoleon Bonaparte & buried in Germany - could be the Franz or Boos.
Would appreciate any assistance ! Thanks.
